Cracker the German Shepherd Cross -cruciate ligament injury

Cracker shares more than just his name with a football player; a cruciate ligament injury too!
Cracker the 10 year old German Shepherd Cross was brought to the Reservoir Veterinary Clinic after he yelped and was unable to walk on his right hind leg while running in his backyard. Dr Andrea performed a full examination and when she found something of interest.

Harry recovers from surgery

Harry has been seen regularly at the clinic last year due to an inflammatory reaction he had on his back. This meant that Harry had to undergo surgery to remove the inflamed tissue which was not allowing the area to heal and reduce in size. Harry was very adorable and very brave as he underwent a total of 3 surgeries.

Cheeky Harry managed to scratch his surgery site with his hind legs so his owner had to tape socks to his feet to stop this.

A root canal for Macey the Border Collie

Macey is a 5 year old Border Collie dog that was referred to see Dr Wayne Fitzgerald for treatment of a broken canine tooth. The canine teeth have a very important function in regards to chewing and support of the jaw so it is important to try and preserve these teeth rather than removing them. Dr Wayne decided that the best course of treatment was to admit Macey into the hospital and perform a root canal on her tooth.

Pregnant Sissi has an ultrasound

Sissi the Cairn Terrier visited our clinic last month because her owner wanted to confirm she was pregnant. Using the clinic’s ultrasound Dr Raj Wicks was able to examine her.

Seeker's story - a reminder, the dangers of human medications and pets

Our Patient of the Month is Seeker, a 7 month old Maltese Terrier X. Seeker was brought to Reservoir Vet Clinic after he had been vomiting. The night before he had eaten two and half Ibuprofen tablets and had not eaten since.

Meet celebrity Rhonda, the Irish Wolfhound X. You may have seen Rhonda featured in the Melbourne Times with her owner after she was treated for tetanus at Reservoir Veterinary Clinic.

Arnie protected by new vaccine

This month’s patient of the month is Arnie, a 7 year old Staffordshire terrier owned by Dr Andrea Montesano. Arnie visited the clinic for his annual check-up and vaccination and received a new type of vaccine.

The perfect bite

Just like humans, not all dogs are born with a perfect bite. This was the case for 1 year old Woody the Labrador who had a really abnormal bite. Woody’s lower canine teeth were pointing in the wrong direction and poking into the roof of his mouth. This caused Woody a lot of discomfort.

Dogs can get diabetes too!

This month’s patient of the month is Shaelea, an eight year old Border Collie cross. Shaelea was brought to the clinic after her owner noticed she had lost weight and was lethargic. Dr Raj Wicks examined Shaelea and after discussion with her owner found Shaelea had been drinking a lot more water in the last couple of months.

Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease - a common disease in toy poodles

This month’s patient of the month is gorgeous 6 month old Poodle Cross called Mojo. Mojo’s owner had noticed that he had been limping on his right hind leg. Dr Raj Wicks examined Mojo and found he had severe muscle wasting and resented his hind legs being extended.
