This month’s patient of the month is Arnie, a 7 year old Staffordshire terrier owned by Dr Andrea Montesano. Arnie visited the clinic for his annual check-up and vaccination and received a new type of vaccine.
This new adult vaccine protects dogs against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus for three years and parainfluenza and canine cough for 1 year.
This new 3- year vaccine is the latest in vaccine technology. It is a safer for your pet as it means your pet receives less injectable viruses over the course of its life.
As part of Arnie’s visit to the clinic he received a full check-up and examination to ensure he was healthy to receive the vaccination. He then received a vaccination against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus which will protect him for three years and a vaccination against parainfluenza and canine cough. Next year Arnie will only need to receive a vaccination for parainfluenza and canine cough.
The new adult vaccine costs a little more initially, but less in the following two years. If you would like more information on the new 3 year vaccine for dog please contact reservoir Veterinary Clinic.
